Hi folks and happy holidays!
We hope you and yours are having a terrific holiday season and looking forward to 2010 as much as we are.
Just a reminder that the final round of the 2009 GI JOE Q&A session will take place RIGHT AFTER THE NEW YEAR.
We need all questions submitted NO LATER than 12:00PM (noon) eastern on Monday January 4th - exactly one week from today. That means that you can send them in earlier; and I actually encourage that, so no issues arise.
If we don't receive them by then, they will have to wait until we start up the new 2010 schedule in March (details forthcoming).

Welcome Back! Extended downtime update

Hi all,
My apologies for the extended downtime. The server JoeDios is on had a hardware failure and had to be shipped back to the site admin. He fixed it, and while he was in there, upgraded the hard drives. Sean, the admin, and I are long time friends. He let me know that JD was using 10 Gigs of space, from 60,000 files, and that's what was taking so long to restore. 4 days of uploading!
Anyway, on his request, I foot the bill for the drives, since JoeDios takes up FAR more space than any other site on the server, and was happy to do so.
I will be setting up a Facebook Group so we will have a place to communicate should the site ever go down again.

The fourth round of the 2009 G.I. Joe Q&A are due to me no later than Tuesday, September 8th at NOON eastern time (one week from tomorrow).
Any questions submitted after that will have to be used for the next round (not until November!).
Please remember that you have three (3) questions and that you need to submit them NOT to this email address, but to gijoeqa@hunterpr.com.
We will get answers back to you by Friday, September 18th.

The Outrider Challenge!!!

Alright sports fans... Lord Raven and I have been discussing a new project that will run con-currently with Weekend Warriors. Anyone can join in!
The Outrider Challenge. This project is about working with what you have. For some, it'll be an exercise to see what you can do with the given subject. For others, it'll be very easy to come up with ideas to execute. It won't be THAT easy in that you'll want to post the very best shots that you can come with (imagine having 10 great shots, but due to the cap, you can ONLY post your best 3! Well, post 3 if you have 'em, then wait for someone else to post then post your other 3, you get the idea).
Don't think for a second this Challenge series will be EASY. Anyone can take a picture of a character. Anyone can do studio portraits. But can 'you' push past what you are comfortable with? CHANGE - Only Veteran Members can rate Photos/Dios

Addressing the concerns of the JoeDios members, I did some research into the features of the gallery add-on I purchased and installed for vBulletin and have disabled ratings for regular members. Currently, about 1/4 of the JoeDios members are of the Veteran Member status. I also increased the requirements for Veteran Member status from 30 days and 100 posts to 90 days and 300 posts. Anyone suspected of padding their post count with worthless posts just to get to veteran status will have their post count reduced to ZERO by me. If you see this happening, PM me with a link, please.
Let's give this a shot and see how it works.
If your image or Dio gets rated 3 stars, be HAPPY. That's a B. Better than average. Only a few should be getting 5 stars. If down-rating with no comments continues, I will make a group of hand-picked members who are trusted to rate fairly and give feedback when they rate something down.
