Hey my man, that was great! jeez.... makes me feel like I should move beyond a photo and a story. That was so sick 5th, the music, the movement, everthing. Me and Rachel both extremely enjoyed it. Thanks for the shout out as well, extremely glad we crossed paths on this world wide web...

BRAVO! BRAVO BRAVO!
I can't say enough how much I enjoyed that because it would simply take too long. That was amazing. Absolutely beautiful work with great action, pacing, photography and high energy. If this is just an experiment, I'm waiting eagerly for what might be next.
BRAVO!

Re: Ambush at Dawn
Wow great work. The pictures you took, which were amazing before this, are enhanced astronomically with the addition of the flash. That was very enjoyable to watch and I can't wait to see where this leads.

Cory, no problemo! Glad to hear that you and your woman sat around the computer screen in a warm embrace and enjoyed the short film tenderly.

Thanks Ender! My son's face lit up when it went to the music and the gunfire.... can't beat his reaction. Glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, it was very short, and to the point. Next time, since I have the templates setup and have become familiar with the application, I'm sure we can bang out longer ones for your viewing pleasure.

You Bet! I love your warhammer sets, and your recent photos have brought me and my family such joy! I still can't figure out how you get some of those poses to work... dynamite baby, it's all dynamite.

Wow, ok... If you thought this little experiment was worth those words of encouragement, then I'm shocked. My son and I are great admirers of your work, your stories... My Brother's Keeper was stupendous... really fantastic story telling. You have a gift for plot creation and suspense etc. Thanks for your comments. We'll try making more dio-films like this if people like them... which it seems they do. In the future, I might run some works-in-progress by you for your opinion. Thanks for your comments!

Thanks RJ! I did it all for you, a fellow Canadian. I used a program called SwishMax 2 to create the movie in flash, and part of the application allows the addition of music/sounds etc.

Thanks Tunnelrat! Yeah, it all starts with good photos and a good dio scene... without that you have no place to start from... so it's easy to add some motion and music and sound effects to achieve what you see in the short film.
Ok, some Details:
I used a program called SwishMax 2, which is a 3rd party flash medium application. I was trained in flash and director by Macromedia way back in the day at the beginning of my career (1996) in San Fransisco. I haven't kept up with the new flash tools offered by Adobe/Macromedia over the past 4-5 years, so I opted for SwishMax which makes it way way way easier to script scenes and add motion etc. My company bought SwishMax 2 for about $149 to use for creating walk-thru demos for our healthcare applications...
I have attached a screen-shot below of the application. In this scene, I was working with the pre-set tools to have the snake-eyes sword image blur in from 600% size to 100% size, alpha blending slightly as it comes in. You can see the timeline for this scene at the top. The left-hand bar has the various scenes and the actors in it. Actors range from photos, to muzzle flashes, to dialogue boxes to sounds.
It was quite easy to put together, and it took just over 2 hours. My son sat beside me and assisted with what goes where, what is said etc. It was a learning experience for him, and he's eager to try his own (he's 8 years old). I had never used the application before this, so there was about a 30 minute learning curve, plus we weren't familiar with pre-set effects, so I was trying to do stuff manually when I didn't really need to ;-)
Anyways, here's the shot:
Again, thanks for everyone's comments. Appreciated.
Cheers! ~ Paul.

Re: Ambush at Dawn
BEST DIO FLASH EVER!
Seriously, that was fantastic. The photography, flash animation, text, FX, and especially the set. Top marks!
